Carol J. Linkkila, a Connecticut native, is a highly skilled wildlife artist who specializes in birds and flowers of the eastern United States.  Her birds are anatomically accurate, minutely detailed, and are complemented in her watercolor and pen and ink paintings by flora appropriate to the region.  To produce a painting Carol combines field study, use of models, and numerous references materials such as flight studies and bird anatomy.

Carol's artistic career began after teaching social studies for several years in Connecticut public schools.  While having no formal art training, Carol has always loved to paint and it was in her late twenties that she turned to art as a career.  Since that time, her artwork has undergone constant change and growth and her love for her work has been reflected by numerous awards she has received over the years.  Early in her career, she had invitational one woman shows at National Wildlife Federation's National Headquarters in Washington, D.C. and at their research center in Vienna, Virginia.  Carol was a staff artist for MORNING SUN of Tacoma, Washington from 1991-1994 and her artwork appeared on clothing featured in major catalogs and retail stores throughout the United States and Canada.  Carol now shows her work in shops and galleries, major arts and craft shows in New England, and through this website.

Even though her name has changed over the years, Carol's attention to detail and profound love of the subject matter being rendered is central in every painting.  It is easy to sense nature's inherent harmony in a Linkkila painting.
