Giclee Prints

Giclee printing produces the finest color authentic reproductions on the market today.  The term giclee is derived from the french verb gicler which means to spray.  During the giclee process hundreds of thousands of minute droplets of ink are sprayed onto a heavy weight watercolor paper producing an image which is almost indistinguishable from the original even by the most discerning eye.  After the approval process is completed and the image has been prepared for printing, it takes approximately an hour to print a full sheet.

The cost of this process is very expensive but the results far surpass an offset reproduction which up until now was the state of the art method to produce a reproduction of a watercolor.  The giclee process also allows the artist to print smaller quantities when needed instead of paying a lump sum all at one time for an offset run of prints.  The giclees which are new to my collection of prints are done by Hunter Editions in Kennebunk, ME.  For more technical information concerning the giclee process log on to http://www.huntereditions.com
